TABLE TALK #120
The Scottish capital is vibrant, whatever the month, but come August it’s a veritable sea of creativity. The Fringe, its iconic arts festival, kicks off and live theatre, comedy and music fills the town.
This week we’re back with one of our exclusive neighbourhood tours, shining a spotlight on our favourite spots to eat, drink and make merry in Edinburgh. Definitely one for those pondering a last minute getaway this summer...
🍝 MAIN COURSE 🍝
If you thought that Edinburgh’s food scene was all mars bars and malts, not a tot of multiculturalism, you were wrong.
The Japanese inspiredNoto, is minimalist but majestic. The sort of place where each dish is described in four or five words, but you know damn well it’ll be good. Their North Sea crab butter we’d cross continents for.
The Levant infusedBaba, in contrast, is maximalist. Everything from the decor to the dishes are awash with colour and texture, and even the soft drinks menu is an exhibition in flamboyance.
If Scottish seafood, done simply but seriously well is your jam however, you better head toThe Shoreon Leith’s waterfront. Home to many a live jazz night and an unmissable half price baked oyster deal every Sunday night.
Peckish en route, head toAlby’sfor their outrageous focaccia sandwiches orChumsfor pies done perfectly. Great food, great merch, great branding, the both of them.

Now, on to drinks.
If you’re in the market for fancy, head toSpryfor natural wines,Nauticusfor cocktails orPanda & Sonsfor theatre in a glass.
If you’re here for beer, tryJump Shipto experience Scotland's first and only dedicated alcohol-free brewery,The Hanging Batfor it’s wild array of craft brews orTeuchters Landingfor it’s unapologetically raucous spirt and kooky location. It’s housed in the old waiting room of the Leith to Aberdeen steamboat ferry.
If you're so furiously loyal that it's a glass of yours truly or nothing, find us at The Palmerston. Our top recommendation? Their fried, stuffed olives are 🤌.

🍮 SWEET ENDINGS 🍮
Here for a good time and a long time too? If you’re staying for a few days and want to suss out the best spots for great groceries you can’t go wrong withI. J. Mellisfor cheese,Valvona & Crollafor pastas, oils and balsamic, andWelchfor fresh fish.
Here for a short, sharp, highly caffeinated time? Our favourites spots for coffee areTwelve Triangles(great croissants),The Bearded Baker(dangerously good donuts) orLittle Fitzoy(for vegan deliciousness).
🍷 WHAT'S NEW FROM WEDNESDAY'S DOMAINE?🍷
This Saturday, we turn two and as the milestone draws closer, we've been reflecting.
Reflecting on how far we’ve come, how much there still is to do and how we’ve never been more motivated or excited about what lies ahead.
A huge and heartfelt thank you, for all of your support, each and every step of the way.
