TABLE TALK #129
Humans are social by instinct, primed to party. Only in recent years, the party seems to have fallen out of vogue a little. They’ve lost their pizzaz and we’ve lost our prowess.Today’s Table Talk prescribes parties as a tried and true remedy for the good life. A reminder to yourself - and others - that life is fleeting and to be celebrated while it’s here.
🍝 MAIN COURSE 🍝
Some occasions are meant to be celebrated. Birthdays, weddings, new jobs, promotions - all of these are perfect reasons to throw a party. But what if you’re just feeling a little blah? Or what if it’s a Tuesday? That’s the beauty of parties: you don’t actually need a reason to host one.
Celebrating life’s small wins can feel just as gratifying as marking a milestone. A “no reason” party is, in many ways, the most honest and authentic kind of celebration. You’re not waiting for something external to validate your joy. You’re choosing to celebrate simply because you are here, and that is enough.
Now, I can hear you thinking: “I don’t have the time or energy for an elaborate party.” But that’s pretty much our point. If you can break from tradition and reject the notion that every celebration needs to adhere to a formula, planning becomes a whole lot easier.
🍮 SWEET ENDINGS 🍮
For dessert, a little food for thought.
👘 If you love hosting, but hate formality, why not make it a dressing gown and slipper soiree.
🦃 If you're hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas and want to add some razzle-dazzle, why not host a Turque du Soleil themed dinner.
🌞 If you find January intolerable and miss summer, why not wheel out the barbecue and stock up on rose -- just pick a cut of meat that likes slow cooking so you can stay toasty inside while it does its thing.
Sometimes in life, the best things make no sense.
🍷 WHAT'S NEW
FROM
WEDNESDAY'S DOMAINE? 🍷
Ooodles going on this end.
I’m currently in Spain for the bottling of a new batch of our still wines, which means they will be back in stock this coming Saturday, for delivery w/c 2nd December - we'll drop you a note when they're live!
We’re also, excitingly, picking one lucky shopper, every two days, over the next ten days, to win a Sause wine bag with their order. So that's five, beautiful, hand crafted wine bags up for grabs.
Each bag is made from repurposed nylon that would have otherwise ended up in landfills, a celebration of conscious living and second chances.
I'm already jealous of you winners.
