⚙️ Table Talk #93: Skinny Dips vs Chunky Dunks 🥖

TABLE TALK #93

August, high summer, is officially upon us.

It's that glorious time of year where you get more out of office notifications than emails, but welcome them with open arms. The world and his wife are poolside, blissfully removed from every day life, with gelato gently dripping down their fronts.

You're probably on a lilo yourself.

🍡 AMUSE-BOUCHES 🍡

Bored... of following the tourist trail? Explore the best alternative attractions that London has up its sleeve

Discover... the Greggs x Greater Goods outdoor jacket you never knew you needed - it holds 21 sausage rolls, 7 steak bakes and 2 pizza slices

Journey... vicariously to South Korea and learn about the artisans using their feet to make rice wine

🍝 MAIN COURSE 🍝
If you, like us, are fans of wandering around old antique shops and salvage yards you'll be familiar with a certain type of metal sign post, emblazoned with everything from advice to affirmations.

One of our favourites reads 'we don't skinny dip, we chunky dunk' and is designed to be hung waterside, welcoming naked dippers whatever their shape or size. Ever fans of a double meaning, we love this mantra not just for swimmers but also... snackers.

Yes there's a time and a place for a puritanical carrot dunked in homemade Tzatziki, or a fiery radish immersed in humble Hummus, but let's face it the best snacks are not the skinny dipping type, they're the chunky dunkers.

Summer means all sorts of deliciousness
being in season, so next time you're hosting how about Artichoke, Parmesan & Cream Cheese Dip nestled in the bosom of some chunky white bread? Or Whipped Feta and Confit Tomatoes mopped up with fresh focaccia?

If the kitchen's not your scene, but you're onboard with decadent dunking then worry not, we've got you covered whatever your budget.

Feeling flush? Try the North Sea Crab Butter and sourdough at Noto Edinburgh or the Fried Chicken & Paprika Mayo at La Goccia, Petersham Nurseries. Neither will disappoint, both are beautiful venues with no shortage of dipping opportunities.

All of that sound a bit fancy and over the top? We're all about the avoidance of judgement here, so just do it - bring back the Dairylea Dunkers

🍮 SWEET ENDINGS 🍮

If you're the type who falls asleep thinking of breakfast and can chat about food morning, noon and night, chances are you'll enjoy the Off Menu podcast.

Hosted by comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster, each episode is a raucous romp through their guest's dream menu. If you're in the market to fast track to the best of the bunch, some of our favourites are their chats with Ainsley HarriottPaul Mescal and Michelle Keegan.

🍷 WHAT'S NEW
FROM
WEDNESDAY'S DOMAINE? 🍷

As updates go, this one is BIG - this weekend, we're making our very first festival outing. We’re absolutely delighted that Sanguine and Piquant, our red and white, are being served across Wilderness Festival all weekend.

We love festivals - not least because they come with the tantalising prospect of free tickets - and so would love to hear where you're off to this summer or would hope to find us next summer?

Drop me a quick note if you have a moment and we'll make it our mission to try and be there (and keep our fingers crossed that those free tickets materialise..!)

Until next Wednesday,

Luke x
